Jeju Air has expanded its offerings by launching a new route between Busan and Kota Kinabalu, adding six weekly flights to its schedule and enhancing travel options for Korean tourists heading to Sabah.
This addition builds on the popularity of Jeju Air’s Incheon-Kota Kinabalu route, which has boosted Sabah’s tourism sector.
Jeju Air increases Korea and Sabah connectivity
This Busan (PUS) to Kota Kinabalu (BKI) route operates almost daily, departing from Gimhae International Airport at 09:00 and landing in Kota Kinabalu at 13:20, providing convenient travel for Korean visitors.
According to Sabah’s Minister of Tourism, Datuk Seri Panglima Christina Liew, the new route supports growing tourist interest from South Korea.
Currently Sabah’s third-largest international visitor group are from South Korea, with more than 124,000 arrivals so far this year.
Liew noted, “As winter approaches in Korea, Sabah’s warm climate could make it a prime destination, especially for golfers.”
Welcoming growth in Sabah tourism
Julinus Jeffery Jimit, CEO of Sabah Tourism Board, believes that frequent flights encourage travel flexibility, making Sabah an attractive option for Korean tourists.
“Kota Kinabalu is a top choice for Korean visitors due to its beaches, mountains, and cultural attractions.
This route opens up new opportunities for hotels and tour operators to create appealing packages for travellers,” Jimit said.
Jeju Air representatives emphasised their focus on consumer convenience, with a commitment to “safe operations” and “differentiated services.”
The new route represents another step in Jeju Air’s efforts to support regional tourism while creating more accessible travel options.
