The Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) captivated Taiwanese audiences this week at the Taipei International Travel Fair (ITF) 2024, held at Nangang Exhibition Hall 1.
With nearly 350,000 attendees, the event provided a prime platform for STB to highlight Sarawak’s rich travel experiences, from UNESCO World Heritage sites to cultural and culinary offerings.
Celebrating Sarawak’s cultural and natural heritage
The STB booth introduced Taiwan’s travel enthusiasts to Sarawak’s renowned CANFF pillars — Culture, Adventure, Nature, Festivals, and Food.
Showcasing iconic sites such as Mulu and Niah National Parks, the Sarawak Cultural Village, and authentic longhouse stays,
STB tapped into Taiwan’s preference for cultural and nature-centric holidays. Taiwanese visitors were particularly drawn to Sarawak’s culinary offerings, including local favourites Sarawak Laksa and Kolo Mee.
Three prominent Taiwanese travel companies launched exclusive Sarawak packages, allowing travellers to explore these highlights in curated trips. Royal Brunei Airlines, a partner of STB, further enhanced Sarawak’s appeal by offering a dual-destination package, allowing visitors to experience both Kuching and Brunei on one itinerary.
Strengthening regional presence of Sarawak
Sarawak has been steadily building its presence in Taiwan. Earlier in 2024, STB held successful business-to-business (B2B) sessions in Taipei and Taichung, helping position Taiwan as one of Sarawak’s top 10 visitor markets.
With Taiwan’s outbound travel on the rise, STB remains committed to strengthening its regional reach and enhancing travel experiences for Taiwanese visitors.
“We are thrilled with the positive response from Taiwanese travellers at ITF 2024,” said Dylan Redas Noel, STB’s Director of Marketing for North Asia and New Markets.
“Sarawak’s offerings align seamlessly with Taiwan’s market preferences, and we are confident that the enthusiasm generated will increase Taiwanese visitor arrivals.”
The Taipei International Travel Fair, which featured 1,500 booths from 111 countries, remains a top platform for international travel promotion.
STB’s participation underscores its dedication to engaging this dynamic market and establishing Sarawak as a must-visit destination.
