Brother Malaysia leads turtle conservation efforts in Cherating

Brother Malaysia’s CSR event in Terengganu highlights marine conservation, releasing 50 turtle hatchlings and collecting 160kg of beach waste.

Brother International Malaysia, a renowned provider of home, office, and industrial solutions, recently showcased its commitment to environmental stewardship with its “Save the Turtle Environmental CSR Activity.” Held in Terengganu and Pahang, the initiative saw 24 employees, including Managing Director Mr. Tsutomu Takaki, actively contributing to marine life conservation.

The program involved two impactful activities: a beach cleanup at Cherating and the release of endangered Green Sea Turtle hatchlings at the Ma’Daerah Turtle Sanctuary. These efforts, aligned with the company’s 2050 Environmental Vision, aim to address pressing environmental challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and ecosystem destruction.

Beach Cleanup and Turtle Release

Armed with gloves and determination, the Brother International Malaysia team tackled the litter-strewn Cherating beach, collecting 160 kilograms of debris, much of it plastic waste—a major threat to marine life. The initiative’s highlight came at the Ma’Daerah Turtle Sanctuary, where 50 Green Turtle hatchlings were released into the sea.

This simple yet profound act symbolized the company’s ongoing dedication to wildlife preservation and biodiversity. The participants left with a renewed awareness of how small actions can collectively lead to significant environmental impact.

Fostering Environmental Responsibility

Beyond the immediate results of a cleaner beach and preserved marine life, the CSR activity aimed to inspire long-term environmental consciousness. Employees gained firsthand insights into the devastating effects of plastic pollution on marine ecosystems and the urgent need to protect biodiversity.

Building on the success of the turtle conservation initiative, Brother International Malaysia is preparing for additional environmental and social programs. These include tree planting, sustainability workshops, and wildlife awareness campaigns.
