The revitalization of Selayang Star City, a housing project abandoned for nearly a decade, marks a significant turning point in Malaysia’s property landscape. 168 Park Selayang Sdn. Bhd., under the stewardship of its parent company Infra Segi, has breathed new life into this derelict development, transforming it into a vibrant, high-quality residential complex. Named 168 Park Selayang, the development is a testament to resilience, innovation, and a commitment to community well-being.
This remarkable effort, completed without imposing additional financial burdens on original buyers, exemplifies the dedication of 168 Park Selayang in restoring trust and delivering value.
A Visionary Revival Amidst Challenges
The transformation of Selayang Star City into 168 Park Selayang was initiated under a Judicial Management Order (JMO) issued in 2022. The High Court appointed Infra Segi as the rescue contractor to salvage the RM1.12 billion project, which included 2,093 housing units. Today, the once-abandoned project is now a shining example of what can be achieved with determination and strategic planning.
Yang Berhormat Tuan Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Housing and Local Government, commended the developers during his recent visit, stating, “Every unit that was previously abandoned has now been completed under Block C, which has been fully handed over, with the CCC already issued. Earlier, I visited the site, and to those who purchased units, congratulations—Alhamdulillah—you can now rejoice.”
Block C, now known as Spring Residence, has been fully handed over, with all units inspected for defects and enhanced with upgraded tiles, modern facades, and top-tier facilities.
Creating a Modern Lifestyle Hub in Selayang
168 Park Selayang is more than just a residential project; it is an integrated lifestyle hub. The development consists of three residential blocks—Spring Residence (Block C), Lush Residence (Block A), and Bole Residence (Block B)—complemented by a four-storey mall.
The mall features two retail floors and Malaysia’s first pickleball facility, alongside established tenants like Village Grocer, Harvey Norman, and Anytime Fitness. Its strategic location, with access to major highways such as the MRR2 and DUKE, ensures seamless connectivity for residents.
Additionally, residential units are offered at highly competitive prices, with starting rates as low as RM290,000. As Mr. Edward Lum, CEO of 168 Park Selayang, highlighted, “Selayang is transforming into a vibrant and dynamic township, and 168 Park Selayang is at the heart of this new chapter, reshaping the skyline and setting new standards for the area.”
Commitment to Excellence and Future Prospects
168 Park Selayang’s revival has raised the bar for abandoned project rescues in Malaysia. Beyond fulfilling its obligations, the developer introduced 26 high-quality facilities, significantly upgraded interiors, and modernized the facades—all without additional costs to buyers.
Construction of Lush Residence has reached over 75% completion, with a 96% take-up rate, and is expected to secure the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) by mid-2025. Meanwhile, Bole Residence is progressing swiftly, with a take-up rate of 45% and completion slated ahead of schedule.
As Malaysia strives for its goal of zero abandoned housing projects by 2030, Minister Nga Kor Ming expressed optimism, “With developers like 168 Park Selayang, the government’s goal of achieving
zero abandoned housing projects by 2030 is well within reach. Their dedication to delivering quality
developments on time has set a benchmark for the industry”
Through innovation and unwavering commitment, 168 Park Selayang has revived more than just a housing project—it has restored faith in the possibilities of transformation, setting a new standard in the property development sector.
