Elmina Lakeside Festival dazzles 100,000 visitors

Sime Darby Property’s Elmina Lakeside Festival dazzled 100,000 visitors with festive highlights, concerts, and record-breaking attractions in Shah Alam.

Sime Darby Property Berhad (“Sime Darby Property”) brought the spirit of the holiday season to life with the inaugural Elmina Lakeside Festival, held at Elmina Lakeside Mall (ELM) and Urban Park in the City of Elmina. The two-day event, held on 7 and 8 December 2024, attracted over 100,000 patrons from Shah Alam and across the Klang Valley.

With a remarkable mix of over 20 activities and attractions, the festival redefined the holiday experience, treating visitors to a magical lakeside concert featuring stellar performances by local icons Dato’ Awie, Ella, DOLLA, and Joey Leong. The festive excitement culminated in a dazzling fireworks display, lighting up the night sky and adding to the grand celebration.

A Record-Breaking Attraction

One of the main highlights was the official entry into the Malaysia Book of Records for the longest Santa sleigh rope slide in the country. The flying Santa sleigh, stretching an impressive 135 metres, amazed visitors and underscored the festival’s innovative spirit.

The centrepiece of the festival was a giant Christmas tree that doubled as a whimsical toy factory, surrounded by European-themed Christmas markets. With 20 artisanal pop-up booths offering unique crafts, festive treats, and holiday décor, the marketplace infused the event with charm and seasonal cheer.

Adding further to the immersive experience, the festival featured a Fun Zone filled with family-friendly activities such as hot air balloon rides, an ice-skating rink, inflatable castles, carnival games, boat and train rides, and the magical Teddy Bear Village. Visitors were also treated to breathtaking visuals at the Lumi Light Garden, featuring gigantic LED sculptures and a Northern Lights-inspired display.

Community-Centric Vision for Elmina City Centre

Sime Darby Property’s Chief Operating Officer of Township Development, Appollo Leong, highlighted the significance of the event in fostering community spirit. “The Elmina Lakeside Festival truly evoked a sense of belonging by uniting communities in a joyous celebration of the holiday season. The overwhelming turnout is a testament to our vision of creating vibrant spaces where families and friends can come together and make lasting memories,” he said.

Leong added, “We are delighted to have welcomed the public to our Elmina Lakeside Mall and Elmina Urban Park, which were meticulously designed to provide an avenue for wholesome, family-oriented activities. This vibrant festive activation marks the start of many more placemaking initiatives and exciting events that will shape Elmina City Centre for years to come.”

Elmina Lakeside Mall Achieves Near Full Occupancy
