The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) hosted its highly anticipated 2025 Annual Parade Ceremony on January 24 at its Putrajaya headquarters. Officiated by YAS Dato’ Ts. Nor Hisham bin Mohammad, the event marked his first year as the Director-General of JBPM, a position he assumed on January 8, 2024.
The ceremony was attended by JBPM’s top management, division and state directors, academy commandants, airbase commanders, and personnel from across Malaysia. External agencies, community firefighting groups like Bomba Komuniti, and volunteer fire brigades also joined in, reinforcing a strong sense of camaraderie and collaboration.
The highlight of the event was the grand march past, where contingents from various JBPM divisions displayed perfect synchronization to the rhythm of the Bomba Malaysia band. This impressive performance underscored the professionalism and discipline that define the department.
STORM’s High-Stakes Demonstration
The elite STORM (Strategic Technical Operations and Rescue Malaysian) team added a thrilling element to the event with a live demonstration of their technical capabilities.
The team executed human towers to simulate rescues in collapsed buildings, showcasing their readiness for disaster scenarios. Advanced techniques for managing electric vehicle fires and solar panel fires were also demonstrated, reflecting JBPM’s adaptability to evolving risks in a modern landscape.
This display highlighted the exceptional expertise and agility of the STORM team, further solidifying their pivotal role in JBPM’s operations. The unveiling of a new beret design for STORM during the ceremony symbolized their unique identity and specialized contributions to the department.
Commitment to Integrity and 2024’s Achievements
Integrity took center stage with the recital of the Ikrar Integriti Malaysia (Malaysia Integrity Pledge), reaffirming JBPM’s dedication to transparency and ethical practices. The department’s Integrity Unit continues to lead initiatives that promote accountability within its ranks.
Dato’ Ts. Nor Hisham also reflected on JBPM’s accomplishments in 2024, including increased fire hazard elimination inspections (MBK), reduced drowning cases, and the upgrading of the National Fire Operations Centre (PGOK). Notable achievements included the completion of Phase 1 of the C4iFRDM system and the establishment of new fire and rescue stations.
Emphasizing a forward-thinking mindset, Dato’ Ts. Nor Hisham urged JBPM personnel to adopt the principle “Think Big, Act Small,” balancing ambition with humility.
Recognizing Excellence and International Standards
The ceremony concluded with a recognition of contributions from individuals and organizations that supported JBPM’s mission. Honorees included public members, police, military personnel, and organizations such as MAYCHAM CHINA, AITO Firework Sdn. Bhd., JPPH, and Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia.
JBPM’s commitment to excellence was further underscored by its recent certifications, including MS ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management), MS ISO 37001:2016 (Anti-Bribery Management), and MS ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety). These certifications reflect the department’s dedication to upholding the highest standards in service delivery, integrity, and personnel safety.
The 2025 Annual Parade Ceremony was not only a celebration of past achievements but also a testament to JBPM’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property, fostering unity, and maintaining world-class operational standards.
