Bolt Malaysia hosts Raya event honouring driver partners

Bolt Malaysia hosted a Raya Open House to celebrate and connect with driver-partners, reinforcing its commitment to a driver-first ride-hailing community.

In a festive nod to the spirit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Bolt Malaysia celebrated its growing community of driver partners with a meaningful Open House event, highlighting the company’s ongoing commitment to building an inclusive, people-first ride-hailing ecosystem.

Held at the charming Rumah Abang Jamil in Kuala Lumpur, the gathering brought together Bolt’s team, driver-partners, and media guests in an intimate setting designed to foster genuine connection, appreciation and open dialogue. The event echoed the values of Raya – community, gratitude, and unity – as driver-partners shared stories of resilience, flexibility, and the important role gig work plays in their everyday lives.

“This Raya Open House is our way of saying thank you. Our driver partners are more than just users of our platform – they’re our collaborators, our community, and our everyday heroes,” said Afzan Lutfi, Country Manager of Bolt Malaysia. “This event not only celebrates their contributions, but also provides a valuable space to hear directly from them, to understand their needs, and to continue building a platform that supports them better, especially during this festive season.”

Honouring everyday heroes on the road

The evening also served as a platform to honour and recognise the contributions of Bolt’s top three driver-partners, who were celebrated for their outstanding service and dedication to delivering safe, reliable rides. Their stories reflect the heart of Bolt’s mission – empowering individuals through technology and human connection.

Among those celebrated was Shahnoorsalmi Binti Khalid, a full-time driver-partner from Klang, who spoke of the life-changing flexibility that the platform offers. “Driving with Bolt means I can earn a stable income and still be home in time for buka puasa with my kids,” she said. “I appreciate that the platform gives us both flexibility and recognition, especially during Raya.”

The recognition underscores Bolt’s belief in valuing its partners not just as workers, but as essential contributors to its success and evolution in Malaysia’s mobility landscape.

A platform that listens

Since its launch, Bolt has experienced rapid growth in Malaysia, marked by a striking 540% increase in registered driver-partners within three months. The platform’s competitive edge lies in its driver-centric model – including one of the lowest commission rates in the industry at just 15% during launch, allowing partners to retain a higher share of their earnings.

Bolt’s transparent pricing structure, which includes toll charges upfront in the fare, has resonated with both drivers and passengers. This eliminates fare disputes and offers a more predictable, smoother ride experience. The platform’s responsiveness to feedback has been key to its rapid rise, and it continues to build on this with new product updates driven by driver needs.

“Drivers told us they wanted shorter pickup distances and easier access to earnings – and we’re responding,” said Afzan. “In the coming months, we’ll be rolling out new app features designed specifically to enhance convenience and improve overall satisfaction.”

Strengthening the ride-hailing ecosystem

With its recent launch of Bolt Executive, a premium ride category offering elevated passenger experiences and higher earning potential for drivers, the company is expanding both vertically and geographically. Plans are underway to introduce new ride categories, improve driver tools, and expand into more Malaysian cities, solidifying Bolt’s role as a key player in the nation’s evolving mobility scene.

The Raya Open House was not just a festive occasion – it marked a milestone in Bolt’s ongoing journey to champion fairness, flexibility, and community in Malaysia’s ride-hailing industry.

“Our mission has always been to put people first – not just technology,” said Afzan. “Whether it’s by offering better earning potential, listening to our drivers, or building meaningful community engagements like this one, we’re here to redefine what ride-hailing can look like in Malaysia.”

As the festive lights of Raya continue to shine, Bolt’s message is clear: when you build with heart, community drives everything forward.
