Heineken® is raising the bar once again for music lovers in Malaysia with the return of its iconic Refresh Your Music campaign. But this time, the global beer brand is going beyond genre-blending beats—it’s also shaking up how people connect, engage, and discover music together.
The introduction of REFRESHING SESSIONS, a bold new pop-up music experience, marks a fresh chapter in Heineken®’s mission to break social bubbles and turn strangers into music buddies.
“From the start, ‘Refresh Your Music, Refresh Your Nights’ has been more than just a tagline—it’s a movement,” said Shaun Lim, Marketing Manager of Heineken Malaysia.
Turning the ordinary into unexpected music hubs
At the heart of this year’s campaign are the invite-only REFRESHING SESSIONS, set in unassuming, everyday locations such as lifestyle gyms, grocery stores, and bookstores. These seemingly mundane spaces will be transformed into high-energy music hotspots, offering guests a chance to immerse themselves in bold new sounds—and more importantly, to connect with people outside their usual social circles.
The first REFRESHING SESSION kicked off with a media preview at Good Juju Barbell Club, where Heineken® turned the fitness space into a pulsating music venue. Guests soaked in the bold beats, left their comfort zones behind, and embraced the spontaneous spirit of the night, all while enjoying the refreshing taste of Heineken®.
“It’s about pushing boundaries, creating unexpected moments, and bringing people together through the power of music,” Shaun Lim added.
Connecting through the Timeleft app
In a move that reflects today’s hyper-connected world, Heineken® has teamed up with Timeleft, a unique social app designed to spark real-world conversations and interactions. Through the app, attendees of REFRESHING SESSIONS are paired with other music fans, encouraging genuine conversations and real connections.
This tech-savvy collaboration enables Heineken® to go beyond curating great music. It’s about creating a platform where people can meet new faces, step outside their routines, and build unexpected friendships in fun, dynamic environments—all driven by the beat of a DJ and the clink of a Heineken® bottle.
Star DJs and fresh soundscapes
Each REFRESHING SESSION promises a dynamic DJ showcase—and the first did not disappoint. Headlining the night was a dual-deck showdown between DJ Blink and DJ Ashley Lau. Spinning face-to-face, the pair delivered an electrifying genre-blending soundscape that set the tone for what’s to come: epic collaborations and unexpected musical journeys that surprise and inspire.
Next up: QRA supermarket, where aisles will come alive with high-energy beats, followed by an event at Eslite Bookstore, pushing the boundaries of where and how music can be experienced. Whether you’re browsing groceries or leafing through literature, Heineken® wants you to feel the music—and meet someone new along the way.
To find out who’s spinning next, fans are encouraged to follow Heineken® on Instagram and Facebook for live updates and exclusive invites.
Exclusive rewards
The REFRESHING SESSIONS aren’t just about live DJ sets—they’re also the lead-up to Heineken® Refresh Your Music 2025, happening this June. The main event will feature genre-defying artists and culminate in a headline performance by an international DJ superstar, promising a high-octane celebration like no other.
Attendees of the pop-ups will also enjoy exclusive access to the 2025 event and stand a chance to win limited-edition Heineken® vinyl players, bringing the joy of discovery right into their living rooms.
“This year, we’re taking it even further,” said Lim. “It’s no longer just about refreshing playlists—it’s about transforming how music is experienced and turning strangers into friends.”
As Heineken® refreshes the way Malaysians discover music, one thing is clear: this campaign is about more than beats—it’s about building bonds. Whether you’re a genre-hopper or a loyal fan of one sound, you’ll find yourself stepping into something new, unexpected, and unforgettable.
Heineken® Refresh Your Music and all campaign events are strictly for non-Muslims aged 21 and above. Drink responsibly.
