APU, the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation, has achieved a remarkable victory at the GOTECH 2025 AI Hackathon II in Dubai.
Its petroleum engineering students, Team Crude Intelligence, secured first place with their AI-driven project on production flow prediction.
“This triumph is a testament to APU’s academic excellence,” said Prof Ho.
By excelling among 122 global participants, APU demonstrates its leadership in preparing graduates for Industry 4.0’s digital energy landscape.
This win offers students and communities inspiration for innovation and career success.
APU’s breakthrough at GOTECH 2025
APU’s Team Crude Intelligence, comprising Hazem Saeed Ali Hasyan and Muhammad Noman Kayani, won first place at the AI Hackathon II, held 21-23 April in Dubai.
Their AI model predicts oil, gas, and water production, addressing upstream energy challenges set a new benchmark,
Moreover, mentor Muhammad Syahmi Afif bin Mokhtar Yazid guided the team to success.
“APU’s commitment to producing industry-ready graduates is clear,” Syahmi remarked.
Competing against 20 countries, APU’s innovative use of machine learning impressed judges at GOTECH 2025, hosted by Dragon Oil and SPE International.
Additionally, APU’s second team, Team Drilluminati, secured eighth place.
“Both teams’ performances showcase APU’s strength,” Syahmi added.
This dual success highlights APU’s depth in AI and petroleum engineering expertise.
APU: The home for industry-ready talent
APU’s win reflects its rigorous training for Industry 4.0.
“We lead through technological innovation,” Prof Ho stated.
The petroleum engineering programme equips students with AI and machine learning skills, meeting the energy sector’s digital demands.
Moreover, the award ceremony on 23 April saw APU honoured by Dragon Oil’s leadership, including Fareed Al Hashmi.
“APU applies computational innovation to critical challenges,” Syahmi noted.
This recognition elevates APU’s global standing in engineering education.
Additionally, APU’s faculty, including Ir EUR ING Ts Harvin Kaur Gurchran Singh, celebrated the achievement.
Their support ensures students excel in competitive, real-world settings.
