PIXORAMA 2025 returns to celebrate Southeast Asian artists

PIXORAMA 2025 returns to PJPAC this June, celebrating digital design with regional talents, bold ideas, and a theme that embraces creative imperfection.

Following its vibrant debut, PIXORAMA returns on 28–29 June 2025 at the Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPAC), positioning itself as one of Southeast Asia’s most progressive celebrations of screen-based design. Organised by Malaysia’s digital art and new media collective, Filamen, the event elevates its scope this year with a bold new theme — Happy Accidents — inviting the creative community to embrace imperfection and spontaneity in their visual storytelling journeys.

PIXORAMA 2025 continues its mission of honouring the “gods of pixels” while expanding its horizons beyond motion graphics to immersive animation and interactive media. The event reaffirms Malaysia’s emerging role as a regional hub for digital creativity, offering a platform where ideas, experimentation, and artistic risk converge in technicolour brilliance.

Regional creativity unite

This year’s speaker line-up reflects a wider regional reach, featuring 12 luminaries from across Asia-Pacific. Among them are Australia’s Ben Marriott, an influential motion designer and educator whose YouTube tutorials have empowered countless artists, and Singapore’s Mojoko, the mind behind the renowned GIF Fest. Also joining are Indonesia’s Arasdotus, the team behind the haunting visuals of Netflix’s Nightmares and Daydreams, and Vietnam’s Phong Luong, known for fusing 2D and 3D motion in unique visual languages.

From the Philippines, Inksurge brings their signature approach of cultural storytelling infused with modern aesthetics. Malaysia’s own creative icons round off the programme, including Jared Lee of Grim Film, who garnered global attention for the award-winning animated short Horologist, Perez OldSkool, the visual maestro behind Polis Evo and Abang Long Fadil, and Azarikh Amran, whose art has graced collaborations with singer-songwriter Yuna.

Complementing the speaker sessions is a cutting-edge motion graphic exhibition featuring digital artworks by Southeast Asian talents. This curated showcase offers attendees a rare opportunity to experience the region’s visual zeitgeist under one roof.

Happy Accidents

The 2025 theme, Happy Accidents, reflects a shift in creative philosophy — one that values unpredictability, process, and unpolished brilliance. The event encourages creators to explore the potential of “unfinished thoughts” and unexpected outcomes that often serve as catalysts for true innovation in visual storytelling.

Over two days, PIXORAMA will feature talks, exhibitions, and networking sessions designed to inspire, educate, and connect. Attendees can expect intimate knowledge sharing, case studies, behind-the-scenes insights, and thought-provoking discussions on creative failure and breakthrough moments. The festival aims to dismantle perfectionism in favour of experimentation — a powerful message for both established professionals and aspiring talents.
