Bolt, Europe’s leading mobility platform, has launched a new ‘Flight Tracking’ feature in Malaysia that aims to make airport pickups at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminals 1 and 2 smoother and more reliable for passengers. The innovation, available from today, automatically adjusts pick-up times based on real-time flight updates and brings added convenience for travellers using Bolt’s Scheduled Rides service.
The newly introduced feature allows customers to sync their flight details with their scheduled Bolt rides. If a flight is delayed or cancelled, Bolt will automatically update the ride’s pick-up time or cancel it entirely — all at no additional charge.
Customers can schedule their airport pickup directly in the Bolt app by tapping the ‘Schedule’ button, entering their pickup point as either KLIA 1 or KLIA 2, and then inputting their destination. Users can then choose to ‘Add Flight Details’, selecting their flight’s date, number, airline, or departure city. Passengers can also indicate how many minutes after landing they prefer to be picked up, allowing the app to adjust the timing accordingly.
“With Flight Tracking for Scheduled Rides, our private and Bolt Business customers can now sync their flight details when scheduling a ride to pick them up from the airport,” said Afzan Lutfi, General Manager of Bolt Malaysia. “If their flight is delayed or cancelled, we’ll automatically adjust their Scheduled Ride’s pick-up time or cancel the trip at no extra cost.”
Designed around airport travellers
Airports remain one of the most frequented destinations for Bolt users in Malaysia. Recognising this, Bolt has placed strong emphasis on making airport transport as smooth as possible. The company’s partnership with more than 30 global airports — including KLIA 1 and 2 — allows its drivers to pick up passengers directly from the arrivals area without the need for detours or walking to distant pick-up zones.
“This means Bolt customers can travel directly from Arrivals more easily than ever, without needing to find a separate pick-up point,” Afzan added. “That means they can spend as little time at the airport as possible with guaranteed rides on arrival, even at off-peak or busy hours.”
To further enhance the airport experience, Bolt’s app also features in-app directions complete with photos to help users locate their pickup point within the terminal. Additionally, airport branding at KLIA helps make Bolt pick-up areas easily identifiable for arriving travellers.
Expansion of scheduled ride features
The Flight Tracking update is part of Bolt’s broader strategy to expand and refine its Scheduled Rides service globally. Last year, Bolt extended its booking window to allow rides to be scheduled up to 90 days in advance. The service also supports customisation options that reflect local market needs — particularly useful for business travellers and frequent flyers.
In Malaysia, where airport journeys are often impacted by flight delays and unpredictable traffic, such enhancements offer a competitive edge and added peace of mind to users looking for punctual and dependable rides.
With the latest upgrade, Bolt continues to position itself as a major player in Malaysia’s increasingly digitalised mobility sector. The Flight Tracking feature not only improves convenience but also reduces waiting time and uncertainty for passengers arriving at KLIA.
By integrating real-time flight data with transport scheduling, Bolt is offering a service level that aligns with the expectations of today’s tech-savvy and time-conscious travellers — both leisure and business alike.
