Phoenixdarts launches Malaysia’s first MY DART ACADEMY

Phoenixdarts Malaysia launches MY DART ACADEMY at Hari Sukan Negara to develop soft darts nationwide, empowering youth, para-athletes, and communities.

Phoenixdarts Malaysia has officially launched MY DART ACADEMY, the country’s first dedicated training and development platform for the sport of soft darts. The academy was unveiled at Hari Sukan Negara 2025, held from October 10–11 at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil — marking a new chapter for darts in Malaysia.

MY DART ACADEMY represents Phoenixdarts Malaysia’s long-term commitment to developing darts from the grassroots up. The initiative aims to build a structured, inclusive, and professional pathway for aspiring dart players, focusing on three main groups — para-athletes, youth, and public sector participants.

The academy promises accessible coaching, competitive opportunities, and community-based programs designed to nurture talent and foster passion for the sport nationwide. It also seeks to shift the perception of darts from a casual pastime to a legitimate, competitive discipline that requires focus, precision, and strategy.

“Hari Sukan Negara is all about bringing people together through sport — and that’s exactly what darts does best,” said Sean Choi, Southeast Asia Director for Phoenixdarts. “With MY DART ACADEMY, we’re building a platform that’s open to everyone. This is the beginning of a long-term investment in people, talent, and community through the game of darts.”

Showcasing talent at Hari Sukan Negara

The launch event took centre stage amid Malaysia’s largest national sporting celebration, where thousands gathered to take part in activities such as brisk walking, aerobics, chess, and sepak raga tuju. For two days, the Phoenixdarts zone at Axiata Arena buzzed with excitement as enthusiasts witnessed a series of fast-paced and inclusive competitions.

The opening day featured a Trios Game in soft dart format, highlighting the sport’s dynamic teamwork and strategic play. The following day, the Double AB Tournament brought even more energy, with the spotlight on two key categories — a Para Dart Game promoting inclusivity, and an Under-18 Game designed to inspire the next generation of players.

Adding to the celebration, Phoenixdarts Malaysia also honoured three standout individuals as Official Phoenixdarts Malaysia Players, presenting them with Certificates of Recognition for their dedication and contribution to advancing the sport. These ambassadors now represent the growing Malaysian darts community on both national and international stages.

Building an inclusive and competitive future

Through MY DART ACADEMY, Phoenixdarts Malaysia aims to democratize access to quality training and competition. Participants will gain access to professional-grade equipment, certified instructors, and digital scoring systems, as well as opportunities to compete locally and abroad.

The academy’s inclusive model also makes darts one of the most accessible sports in Malaysia. With minimal physical barriers, affordable entry, and an emphasis on focus, discipline, and hand-eye coordination, darts offers a platform for people from all walks of life — from students and para-athletes to civil servants — to engage in healthy competition and skill development.

While darts has long been a social pastime, its transformation into a recognized sport has been steadily gaining traction across Asia. In Malaysia, the community is expanding rapidly thanks to modern electronic dartboards, online tournaments, and public engagement initiatives led by Phoenixdarts.

MY DART ACADEMY is expected to accelerate this growth by providing a national framework for talent discovery and development — from beginner levels to international competitions.
