ADIWARNA RUNWAY brings Malaysian fashion, music and community together

ADIWARNA RUNWAY brought Malaysian fashion, music and community together at Alamanda Putrajaya during a four-day Malaysia Day showcase.

The inaugural ADIWARNA RUNWAY concluded at Alamanda Shopping Centre on Sunday (13 September), bringing a four-day programme of Malaysian fashion, music and community activities to Putrajaya as part of Malaysia Day celebrations.

Held from 10 to 13 September at the mall’s Centre Court, the showcase was presented by Alamanda Shopping Centre in partnership with the Malaysian Official Designers’ Association (MODA). The programme combined runway presentations, live performances and direct-to-consumer retail through the ADIWARNA Runway Bazaar.

The event opened with 22 designers presenting signature creations developed using an exclusive bespoke textile print inspired by the hibiscus, Malaysia’s national flower.

The showcase also drew representatives from Tourism Malaysia and Perbadanan Kemajuan Kraftangan Malaysia (Kraftangan Malaysia), highlighting the event’s connection with efforts under the Visit Malaysia 2026 roadmap to promote Malaysian creative talent.

Francis Tan, Executive Director and CEO of Suria KLCC Sdn Bhd, said the event formed part of efforts to position Alamanda as a lifestyle and community destination.

“Bringing a premier, national-scale showcase directly to Putrajaya gave our shoppers and the community an engaging, memorable experience while providing our country’s finest designers with significant commercial reach,” he said.

Designers showcase diverse creative directions

Across the four days, 16 designers presented ready-to-wear, modern modest wear and bespoke collections, including Justin Yap Atelier, Yuleza, NANALYANA, Ariff Atelier, Bill Keith, SITI KHADIJAH and Variante.

Cyrus Chin, President of MODA, described the showcase as an opportunity to support local designers and create commercially viable opportunities for their work.

The bazaar complemented the runway programme by allowing shoppers to purchase fashion pieces and artisan accessories directly from participating labels.

Music, students and families join showcase

The programme also featured performances by Malaysian artistes including Datuk Syafinaz Selamat, Daniel Chuer, Yazmin Aziz, Bunga Isme, Daniesh Suffian, Layla Sania, Farah Dolhadi and Ernie Zakri.

Community participation included a Family Fashion Show featuring 10 winning shopper pairs, who walked the runway styled by five MODA designers.

An aspiring talent showcase meanwhile gave student designers from institutions including UiTM, INTI, Sunway, Raffles and UCSI an opportunity to present their collections publicly.

MODA also presented Alamanda with a commemorative oil painting commissioned from Malaysian artist Mr Pheng, marking the collaboration and the event’s themes of colour, creativity and unity.
