100 Lamborghini supercars cruise from Putrajaya to Sepang Circuit

About 100 Lamborghini supercars cruised from Putrajaya to Sepang Circuit, combining luxury motoring with Malaysia’s tourism promotion.

A convoy of approximately 100 Lamborghini supercars travelled from Putrajaya to the Sepang International Circuit on Oct 4, bringing automotive enthusiasts and visitors together for a showcase combining luxury motoring with Malaysia’s tourism promotion efforts.

Known as “Konvoi Eksklusif Lamborghini 2026”, the event was organised as part of the Citrawarna Speed Festival 2026 in collaboration with Lamborghini Owners Malaysia (LOM), supporting the Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 (VM2026–2027) campaign.

The convoy departed from IOI City Mall Putrajaya at noon before proceeding along a coordinated route to the Sepang International Circuit in Selangor. Upon arrival, the vehicles were displayed in an open-air exhibition, allowing members of the public, motorsport enthusiasts and international visitors to view the supercars.

The event formed part of the 12-day Citrawarna Speed Festival, which ran from Sept 23 to Oct 4 across IOI City Mall Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 and Sama-Sama Hotel KLIA.

Luxury motoring joins tourism showcase

The convoy’s flag-off ceremony was officiated by Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, political secretary to the finance minister, alongside Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry secretary-general Shaharuddin Abu Sohot.

Other attendees included Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 Secretariat head and Tourism Malaysia deputy director-general for promotions Mohd Akbal Setia, LOM president Roslan Rosdi, an IOI Properties representative and YES Travel & Holidays representative Angela Mak.

Held under the themes “Art, Culture, Speed, Together” and “Malaysia Moves Together”, the event combined automotive displays with a broader programme of cultural performances, entertainment and interactive activities.

The Lamborghini showcase complemented the festival’s Colours of Parade, which featured 1,500 dancers and cultural performers representing communities from across Malaysia. Other attractions included traditional arts and crafts demonstrations and motorsport-inspired activities.

Organisers positioned the convoy as part of efforts to diversify Malaysia’s tourism experiences by combining luxury lifestyle interests with motorsport and cultural attractions. The display also offered opportunities to promote the country through social media and digital platforms, although the organisers did not provide specific figures on visitor attendance or the event’s economic impact.

Tourism campaign targets wider visitor interest

The festival took place as Malaysia prepared for VM2026–2027, with Tourism Malaysia reporting 28.8 million international visitors between January and August 2026, an increase of 1.8% from 28.2 million during the same period last year.

Organisers said collaboration between the public and private sectors could generate economic benefits for businesses in hospitality, food and beverage, and retail around Putrajaya and Sepang.

The Tourism Satellite Account 2025 recorded tourism’s contribution at 15.9% of Malaysia’s gross domestic product, equivalent to RM323 billion in Gross Value Added of Tourism Industries.

While the convoy added a luxury automotive element to the festival, its longer-term contribution to tourism will depend on factors including visitor spending, participation and the ability to attract travellers beyond the event itself.
