The MotoGP title race at Sepang

After Phillip Island, Marquez leads with 365 points. Martin has 355, and Marco Bezzecchi has 315, Motorsport Week reported.

Sepang is round 19. Three rounds follow it, so Marquez cannot clinch the title in Malaysia.

Still, the gap matters. If he leaves Sepang 27 points clear of Martin, he gets his first match point in Qatar.

However, Martin fractured his right wrist in the Australian Sprint. He must pass medical checks before the first practice session.

Marquez also has right-arm trouble, MCNews said. Both riders therefore arrive with questions.

A big result for either rider would shift the picture. In the teams’ title, Aprilia leads Ducati by 139 points.

Organisers cancelled the planned resurfacing of the track. Riders will race on the 2025 asphalt. Michelin brings a new medium rear tyre.

Home hopes and the weather

Hakim Danish, 19, is from Terengganu. He rides for AEON Credit-MT Helmets-MSi in Moto3.

Meanwhile, he is ninth in the standings with 103 points. He won the Czech Grand Prix and took third in Italy.

Circuit chief executive Azhan Shafriman Hanif said everyone hopes Hakim reaches at least the podium. He also urged him not to put too much pressure on himself, Bernama reported.

The track is 5.543 km long, with a 920 m main straight.

The circuit targets 200,000 spectators over the three days. MotoGP Sepang therefore puts a home rider in front of a big crowd.

Also, the weather may play a part. Forecasts show fog on Friday morning and a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Saturday may bring light rain in the afternoon. Rain is possible on Sunday too, and forecasts differ on timing.
