Ramanan told residents to stay alert to weather conditions and follow instructions from the authorities. He also asked families to put safety first, especially in flood-risk areas.

Next, the road operator. PLUS Malaysia Bhd said drivers should avoid driving through flooded roads. It warned that even shallow-looking water can stall an engine or sweep a car off the road.

Also, the updates. PLUS asked drivers to follow its official channels for news on weather, flooding and alternative routes.

Meanwhile, many agencies are working together on the ground. They include the Petaling District and Land Office, the Shah Alam City Council and the Social Welfare Department.

First, the closure. The NKVE was shut in both directions between Setia Alam and Shah Alam on Monday evening. The closed stretch ran from KM9.1 to KM9.4.

Next, the diversion. Traffic from Subang was sent off at Elite. Meanwhile, traffic from Bukit Raja left at the Setia Alam Interchange.

Then, the warning. PLUS described the stretch as impassable and closed to all vehicles. Drivers should not try to cross floodwater.

Also, the help line. Drivers who get stuck can call PLUSLine on 1-800-88-0000. The PLUS App also has an SOS button.

A temporary relief centre has opened at Dewan Siantan in Kampung Melayu Subang. It is for residents affected by the floods.

NADMA’s noon report listed one flood relief centre in Petaling. It held eight families, or 31 people, and the number was rising.

The Shah Alam City Council lists a 24-hour line on 03-5510 5811 and 03-5510 5133.

The council’s iLensa portal has a map of CCTV locations with a flood hotspot filter. The council says the portal is for public reference only.

For now, follow your local council and Bomba for updates. For the latest flash flood advice, check their official channels before you travel.
