Malaysians dance for charity in Sri Lanka

The Muhibbah Lions Dance troupe from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia peformed at the opening ceremony of the Srii Jayanti Maha Karuna youth centre in Delgoda, Sri Lanka on 14th March 2012.

The event was officially graced by Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne of Sri Lanka.

Troupe leader James Vijeypala Attygalle, 52, said that the troupe members comprised of various races including Sabahans and also female members. “This is our way of promoting multi-racialism and the troupe members are respectful of one another’s way of life,”. The troupe started with only 15 members in 1985.

The dance troupe  has been performing charity dances for the community in various parts of Sri Lanka including the remote areas since March 10.
