Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Keat Hwa, made a clean sweep in all categories in the St. John Ambulance State Level First Aid and Foot Drill competition for the state of Kedah, held here in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan St Michael, Alor Setar recently.
St John Ambulance Malaysia’s Honarary State Secretary for Kedah, Commander K. Kunna Segaran, said, “the main aim of this competition is to instil discipline as well as to increase awareness and exposure in our members.”
Kunna, who is also the Area Commander for Northern Kedah, further added that this annual championship is open to all secondary schools in the state. This year, saw the participation of eight schools, who made it to the finals, each representing the different areas in Kedah.
The first aid competition was judged by a panel of first aid experts from the hospitals and nursing academies, namely the medical staff and nurses, while the the foot drill competition was conducted by Drill Sargents from Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM).
The champions, SMJK Keat Hwa, will now represent the state of Kedah to the St John Ambulance National Level First Aid and Foot Drill, scheduled to be held in PULOPOL at the end of May, 2012.
