Prime Minister Najib is on a two days working visit here in Johor Bahru. He has been scheduled to visit Kampong Melayu Majidee, Taman Molek, Taman Sutera, Skudai among others.
After leaving a function in Kampung Melayu Majidee, he headed straight to Taman Molek, Johor Bahru to officiate the opening of Taman Molek Islamic religious school. The event attracted closed to one thousand people.
In his speech, he congratulated the Johor state government in initiating a smart government and private sector partnership in facilitating the state to resolve the problem of acute shortage of Islamic religious schools in the state.
Under the smart partnership agreement, a total of one hundred and twenty one Islamic religious schools will be build within a three years period in five phases.
Besides the Taman Molek Islamic Religious school, there are another twenty four Islamic religious schools under various building stages and all are due to be completed by year end.
Another balance ninety six schools are scheduled to complete by October, 2013.
Later, at the press conference, he announced that the Education Ministry will allocate a sum of RM100 million to improve on the existing Islamic religious schools in the country.
Also present at the official opening were Johor Mentri Besar, Abdul Ghani Othman, the Speaker for Johor state assembly, Ali Hassan, Higher Education Minister, Khalid Nordin, Johor Jaya ADUN, Tan Cher Puk and State Secretary Obet Tawil.
