A group of 50 residents of the former Bukit Jalil Estate encamped themselves at Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in Jala Raja Laut today.
But they were left fuming after city mayor Ahmad Fuad Ismail snubbed them and left the building.
The residents had been chanting and carrying placards chastising DBKL relentlessly since 11am, demanding to see the mayor to him a memorandum demanding that DBKL retract its eviction order on the residents, and the demolition of their homes.
DBKL is invoking the Emergency Ordinance (1969) to evict the 41 families who still reside there, which their lawyer claims is illegal as they are licensed former estate workers.
