The Penang CPO Datuk Wira Ayub Yaakob and Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng called a press conference at 9.30 pm on Sunday, 11 April 2010 to inform press that the case of the Muslim tombstones has been solved.

Earlier in the evening, a total of 110 tombstones believed to be Muslims tombstones were found at Pantai Bersih, Butterworth.

After investigation, the police has identified where the tombstones came from.

A mosque in Kubang Buaya, Jalan Kampung Gajah in Permatang Pauh has replaced the tombstones and placed the old ones near the mosque perimeter.

However, a contractor who was supposed to clear some debris from road upgrading, cleared the tombstones as well. According to the police investigation, the imam wasn’t aware where the contractor dumped the tombstones
