Selangor exco Xavier Jayakumar was at Little India in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur to express his support for the seven hunger strikers from the Effingham tamil school.
At a press conference held at the water fountain right after the commencement of the hunger strike Xavier said that the Selangor government was prepared to transfer the title of the 3 acres of land to the name of the tamil school if the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) agrees to return the land to the Selangor government.
He also cited two other similar cases of tamil school land being taken away from the schools which were eventually returned to the schools with the assistance of the Pakatan government. The two tamil schools were at Bukit Raja in Kapar and North Hammock Estate in Klang
On the night of 26th May 2012, some 50 supporters and family members of the seven hunger strikers held a candlelight vigil in front of the water fountain in Little India. The following pictures were taken at around 9pm.
