Thirteen items will come under the Price Control Scheme (PCS) for the Chinese New Year festival, said Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the ministry would be making an announcement on the matter soon and that among the items would be white pomfret, giant prawns and garlic.

“The PCS will be in effect four days before the Chinese New Year and eight days after (the Chinese New Year),” he told reporters after attending a community function in Bera near yesterday.

On other developments, Ismail Sabri, who is also the MP for Bera, said 60 more Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M) would be opened throughout the country this year following the good response shown by the people to KR1M retail outlets.

He added that the government had allocated RM40 million to open the new KR1M outlets.
