The number of victims at flood relief centres in Johor has dropped to 1,236 people as at 5pm, from 1,437 earlier yesterday.

The National Security Council portal reported that the evacuees, from 312 families, were at 18 relief committees, comprising eight in Segamat, seven in Mersing and three in Batu Pahat.

In Segamat, the relief centres are at Kampung Paya Dalam (32 people), Kampung Tandong (71), Kampung Mensudut Pindah (19), Kampung Kuala Paya (30), Kampung Sanglang (16), Kampung Batu Badak (103), Kampung Pogoh (88) and Kampung Spangloi (29). In Mersing, 173 evacuees were at Pertubuhan Peladang Endau, Kampung Tanah Abang (11), Taman Negara Endau-Rompin (27), Sekolah Agama Pengkalan Batu (148), Kampung Air Merah community hall (36), Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Endau (244) and Sekolah Agama Mersing Kanan (58).

The evacuees in Batu Pahat are at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandan (42), Kampung Baru Senggarang (58) and Sekolah Menengah Teknik Batu Pahat (51).

It also reported that the earth road leading to the Orang Asli village of Peta in the Endau-Rompin National Park is still cut off and the settlement can be reached only by boat or air.

In PAHANG, the number of evacuees in Rompin has dropped to 625 people, from 946 this morning.

A spokesman at the Pahang Police flood operations room the evacuees were accommodated at three relief centres in the district.

They are Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sarang Tiong (137), SK Pianggu (430) and Teluk Gading Hall (58), he added.

In SABAH, the 351 people, involving 101 families, from Kampung Gum-Gum in Sandakan who were evacuated since last night are still at the relief centre at the Sri Gum-Gum Hall as of 5pm today, said a spokesman at the Sandakan Municipal Council flood operations centre.

Gum-Gum Assemblyman Datuk Zakaria Edris visited was at the relief centre today to distributed food packets to the flood victims.

The flood victims also received used clothing contributed by the Sandakan branch Red Crescent Society.
