The number of flood victims who were evacuated in Johor has risen to 1,011.
The Johor Secretary of the National Security Council (NSC), Mohamad Yusri Hashim said that as of 9pm last night, 18 temporary evacuation centres had been set up namely 12 in Kluang, three in Segamat and one each in Kota Tinggi, Batu Pahat and Johor Baharu involving 17 flooded areas.
“Kluang district recorded the highest number of evacuees with 754 victims from 193 families living in Kampung Mengkibol; Kampung Muhibbah; Kampung Kolam Air; Kampung Berasau; Sungai Peroh Orang Asli Settlement; Kampung Punchor; Kampung Sri Cahaya; Kampung Contoh; Kampung Batu 4 Paloh; Kampung Melayu Mardi; and Perumahan Rakyat Yap Tau Sah,” he said.
They are now being accommodated at the Kampung Kolam Air Community Hall; Kampung Berasau Community Hall; Sungai Peroh Orang Asli Settlement; Kampung Punchor Community Hall; Taman Puteri Community Hall; Kampung Contoh Activity Centre; Kampung Batu 4 Community Hall, Paloh; Kampung Muhibbah Community Hall; Kampung Melayu Mardi Activity Centre; SK Sri Kencana, Simpang Renggam; Kampung Mengkibol Community Hall; and SJK (C) Ping Min.
One hundred and forty-three flood victims from Kampung Batu 10, Skudai here were being placed at SK Batu 10. In Segamat, 81 victims from Kampung Usaha Jaya; Kampung Paya Dalam and Kampung Spangloi in Segamat were being placed at the Balai Islam Kampung Paya Dalam, Balai Raya Spangloi; and Balai Raya Kg Usaha Jaya.
Eighteen victims from Kampung Parit Haji Kamisan, Yong Peng, Batu Pahat and 15 victims from Kampung Sungai Berangan, Kota Tinggi were being placed at the community hall in their respective villages.
He advised residents to be wary of the rainy season and to evacuate immediately to the relief centres when the water level rose in their areas.
