A doctor was stabbed twice in the waist by an elderly patient during a routine consultation session at his clinic near Magazine Road, last night.
The incident took place around 9pm when the 67-year-old suspect went to Dr Lee Kok Seng’s clinic for consultation.
North-East police chief, ACP Gan Kong Meng who confirmed the case, said the motive of the attack had yet to be ascertained.
“Police also found a knife believed to be used by the suspect as the weapon during the attack,” he said when contacted.
He said the case would be investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing hurt. It is learnt that Dr Lee was sent to the Penang General Hospital for outpatient treatment.
