Street Food Carnival kicks off in Johor Bahru

The street food carnival will set up 200 food stalls comprising of Malay, Chinese and Indian street food.

The 1 Malaysia Street Food Carnival 2011 will kick off at Taman Johor Jaya, Johor Bahru on the 3rd and 4th December.

According to Hoo Seong Chang, Johor Tourism and Domestic Trade & Consumer committee Chairman (Johor Exco), this national street food carnival will be officiated by Dato Ng Yen Yen, Minister of Tourism on the 3rd of December at 7pm at an open space at Jalan Dedap 13 in Taman Johor Jaya.

The street food carnival will see the set up of 200 food stalls comprising of Malay, Chinese and Indian street food. The organizer expect to attract more than 20,000 people to taste the variety of food at this 2 days carnival. The carnival will begin at 5pm and will end around 11pm.

Supported by Ministry of Tourism and Malaysian Hawkers Association the carnival is organized by Persatuan Peniaga-Peniaga Kecil Pasar Lambak Bergerak Johor Selatan. Joint organizers include Majlis Perbandaran Johor Bahru Tengah ( MPJBT ), Johor Bahru Small Business Association, Malay Hawker Association and the Johor Bahru Tiong-Hua Association.

The organizing chairman, Mr. Yow Boon Choon expects a lot of visitors at this carnival mainly tourist from Singapore. Jalan Dedap 13 will  be closed  from 3pm to 1am both days. He hopes that public will be cooperated with the enforcement team to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
