Devi Ram Laskmi Devi Kalliana Ran, lost 31 kg’s in just 9 months. She won the crown title of the annual Bizzy Body Ambassador Search 2011/2012 competition at the grand finale recently at Sunway Pyramid shopping centre, Petaling Jaya.

With this year’s theme being, “Making your dreams a reality,” Devi Ram set her goals and persevered in making her dream come true by shedding off extra kilos and becoming the grand winner of Bizzy Body Ambassador Search 2011/2012. She duly walked away with RM100,000 worth of prizes.

“Wow! I have lost 31 kg in nine months and I have to say I feel great!,” said an elated Devi Ram, 32, a chief marketing officer, who also grabbed the subsidiary title of Miss Bizzy Body Highest Weight Loss.

Devi Ram beat 18 other finalists in the stiff competition which is seen by many women as a platform not only to shed extra kilos but to gain confidence and as a means of career advancement.

“I did not expect to win. When I first joined this slimming program, I asked them how do they chose the winner? They said that they looked at the overall development of the paricipants. Last year there was one participant who lost the most kilos yet another who showed promising development won the title instead. So this really came as a surprise.”

Devi Ram’s whole shopping experience of getting new clothes was good and has been creating a deep hole in her pocket as she dropped from 94 kg’s to 61 kg’s. She now wears a size M where she previously wore XXL.

“Everyone has been asking me: “How come there is such a radical change?” I told them that the secret is Bizzy Body – a slimming centre.

“These people are very good, they are there for real. It’s worth every penny.

The finalists dazzled in the evening gown category as they strutted down the runway in beautiful gowns by Malaysian top wedding dresses designer Gilbert Ng.

“In the last 12 months that I gained weight, I do not know whether it was hormonal changes, it just happen. I just got bloated. I tried going to gym, walking, and going on a very strict diet. Nothing helped until it came to a point here I gave up.

“Going to a slimming centre was the last thing I wanted to do because to me it was expensive and you might not get the results you want but it came to a point in my life where I want to give it a last try because my weight was just not getting any better. Thank God I made that right decision!” said Devi Ram who saw an ad on the billboard and walked right into Bizzy Body.

What made her decide to slim down?

“I did it mainly for health reasons. My knees and skin were giving me problems. When you are overweight, your body doesn’t function as well, and you feel constantly lethargic. It’s a sickening feeling. You can’t walk from here to there because you are panting. It wasn’t a good feeling,” said the exuberant lady.

On the Malaysian diet, she said: “Our mamak stalls are open 24 hours. We take the
condensed milk. These foods come with high levels of fat, sugar and calories. Yes you have to take rice but everything in moderation.

First runner-up Michelle Low Lee Pin shares her win with her husband and her two children.

“At Bizzy Body one is not stopped from eating. They go through the cycle of changing your body to pump up your muscles and basically go on a very healthy diet. It was my first experience and it was a very good experience. I love the slimming program and I am so glad I have found something which works for me.”

The first runner-up was Michelle Low Lee Pin, 34, who won RM50,000 worth of prizes and second runner-up went to Ruslinda Ibrahim, 37, who won RM30,000 worth of prizes. Seven subsidiary titles were crowned that night.

Adding more glitz and glamour to the show were the special guest appearance by Hong Kong celebrity actress and Bizzy Body’s regional  spokesperson Jessica Hsuan and panel of judges such as Miss Universe Malaysia 2010 Nadine Ann Thomas, Malaysia’s foremost hair designer Winnie Loo, television and film actor Tony Eusoff, male supermodel Wilson Tan, former Miss Malaysia finalist turned model Leng Yein and fitness celebrity Kevin Zahri.

“These people came to us with a purpose and we are here to help them achieve the desire every woman dreams of to gain back their confidence. We have seen women who once had low-self esteem who are now transformed to feistier, confident woman and moving forward with greater challenges to better themselves. Some of our past winners were often discovered by talent scouts/companies and they have since moved on to being the face of beauty products, modeling, and acting,” said Danny Hoh, head of group marketing, Wyann International, the event organizer and holding company for BIzzy Body.

Miss Universe Malaysia 2010 Nadine Ann Thomas is one of the panel of celebrity judges at the event.

Hong Kong celebrity actress and Bizzy Body’s regional spokesperson Jessica Hsuan takes time to pose photograph with her fans.

“I took about 11 month to lose 17 kg’s.  I lost 16 inches overall from top to toe. My waist has gone down from 36 inches to about 30 inches now.

“I am sceptical about slimming centers but there was a moment when I felt I had to do
something about my weight. I had done a lot of activities trying to lose weight like going to gym and sometimes skipping rice but it just wasn’t working.

“This program helps me stay on track and I feel awsome!, I used to wear XL but now am using M. It was worth it because of the image and reputation in my job,” added Ruslinda who is  married with a 12-years old daughter.
