The flood situation in the East Coast has improved with the number of victims in Kelantan dropping from 1,327 to 1,247.
In Kelantan, a state flood operations room spokesman said six relief centres in Pasir Mas and Tumpat are still open.
“The weather in Kelantan is fine. The victims are returning home in stages as they wait for the water to recede,” he said when contacted yesterday.
The Sungai Golok water level at Rantau Panjang has dropped to 10.05 metres, still above the nine metres danger level.
The spokesman said that five roads in Pasir Mas and Tumpar have been closed to light traffic. Pasir Mas – Jalan Rantau Panjang-Panglima Bayu (at KM 10), Jalan Banggol Kulim (KM 1, 2) Jalan Pengkalan Rakit (KM 3 and Jalan Pohon Tanjung-Rantau Panjang (KM 3).
Tumpat – Jalan Cabang 4/Kampung Jambu/Meranti (KM 3).
Kelantan floods have claimed four lives with three others still missing.
The four drowning victims include a two year-old child while three others still missing are between the ages of 10, 14 and 15 years.
The missing are Mohd Alif Rizuan, 15, Azman Mohd Yusuf, 17, and Mohd Farid Mohd Yusof, 20.
In Terengganu, a National Security Council spokesman said the last 26 victims putting up at relief centres in Kuala Terengganu district were allow to return home at 4pm.
Several districts in Terengganu were flooded since Sunday after continuous heavy rainfall several days earlier.
