Johor police chief Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff reminded Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy president Azmin Ali to refrain from insisting on having speeches in the state without obtaining permits.
“We must respect the law. If the law is not respected it is tantamount to challenging the police,” he said, today.
Speaking after launching the Keadilan Women and Youth Corps Congress today, Azmin claimed that police cancelled all the speech permits it had issued for several areas, at the last minute yesterday night.
Commenting further on the matter, Mohd Mokhtar said there was no issue on the subject, as police did not approve PKR’s application which was made two days ago, in the first place.
He said PKR could appeal to the State Police Chief to weigh the approval, subject to public order and security.
