The Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) has been urged to be more caring to disabled people by providing facilities for them, particularly an aerobridge at the KLIA2 which is under construction.
Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Ministee Heng Seai Kie said the ministry was concerned over lack of facilities at public places for disabled and elderly citizens.
“The construction and implementation of the new Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (KLIA2) is seen as unfriendly to disabled and elderly citizens,” she said when winding up debate on the Supply Bill 2012 at the Dewan Rakyat today.
Earlier, several members, including Fong Po Kuan (DAP-Batu Gajah) and Datuk Noraini Ahmad (BN-Parit Sulong) questioned MAHB’s refusal in building an aerobridge at the KLIA2.
Meanwhile, Heng said the ministry was not planning to provide more allowances for disabled workers from the existing RM300 as it was an additional allowance for those earning below RM1,200 per month.
