Suara Rakyat Malaysia (Suaram) secretariat, Cynthia Gabriel was in Penang recently at the Caring Complex to give the public an update of the Scorpene scandal,
which she dubbed “The Great Malaysian Robbery”.

A procurement to purchase two submarines in 2002 exploded into one of the biggest corruption scandal which led to the murder of a mongolian woman, Altantuya Shaariibuu.

Suaram approached the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to file a case on the Scorpene scandal, but to date, no action is forthcoming.

Eventually, Suaram met up with some international NGO activists on what can be done.

In 2009, Suaram filed a complain before the French judiciary, because the trial of Altantuya ended abruptly with the acquittal of the key suspect, Abdul Razak Baginda without his defense being called. Many unanswered questions surrounds the tragic death of Altantuya.

As French prosecutors continue their “digging”, massive corruption and shocking findings are expected.

According to Cynthia, the inquiry is on going, and nothing or anybody can stop it as it gathers momentum.

The story does not end here.
