Johor police chief Mohd Mokhtar visited Tebrau City Shopping Mall yesterday to make it known that the police were serious about enhancing the security of shopping malls.

He has stressed that the security plays an important part in all shopping malls. During the weekend there are about 60,000 Singaporean coming into Johor Bahru for holidays therefore to ensure the security of visitors in our town is vital.

He also  encouraged the owner of shopping malls to install more closed-circuit television (CCTV) at crowded places and repair those which are faulty.

The Police department will be launching the Project Integration CCTV with owners at all the malls. The CCTVs will then be linked to the police station if any crime happens.

The memorandum of understanding (MOU) of the project will be signed on August 25, 2012.
