Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) today said its new meter could provide reading of the actual electricity usage as it has been calibrated by a laboratory with MS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation.
With that, TNB gives its guarantee that consumers would not be charged for the installation of the meters in its meter replacement programme to change old or defective meters.
“Old meters have to be replaced as meters have a life-span of 15 years while defective and tempered meters are replaced to ensure accurate meter reading.
“In cases where there were proven electricity thefts, there would be obvious difference after the meters have been replaced,” said TNB in a statement here.
TNB welcomes discussion with consumers who have proof and strong ground of no meter tempering and they would be given due consideration on the matter.
