The Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA) is looking for a new partner to run its football academy in Taman Melawati, Hulu Klang following the revocation of an agreement with an English Premier League club, Liverpool FC recently.
KLFA president Datuk Astaman Abdul Aziz said the agreement was revoked due to policy differences as the KLFA wanted to nurture young players while Liverpool FC was more keen to turn the academy into a commercial entity.
He said the KLFA was holding talks with two clubs in England but he could not divulge the details yet.
The opening of the academy scheduled for January next year will be postponed to March as facilities such as a gymnasium, a cafeteria and a hostel had yet to be completed, he said when contacted today.
He said the first batch of 25 under 17 footballers from the capital would undergo training soon after the opening of the academy.
