The last draft of the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Master Plan will be posted on the website of the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) to gather public feedback.
Its chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar said today that the MRT alignment master plan was still at the discussion level involving SPAD, MRT Corporation and the consultant firms before it could be shown on the SPAD website.
He said the information displayed would enable the public to give their feedback on the project before it could be finalised.
“We have been in regular interaction with our consultant. Once the draft is ready, we intend to post it on our website. We hope to get public feedback before we can finalise the plan by next year.”
He said this after looking at preparations at the Pasarama Kota Terminal, better known as the Klang Bus Station, here, before it would be closed after the last bus trip at 11.30 tonight to make way for the construction of the transit station between MRT and Pasar Seni LRT. The project is expected to be ready by 2016.
To a question from reporters on the fate of the traders after the bus terminal is closed, Syed Hamid said those facing problems could discuss them with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
He said SPAD was responsible only for preparing the bus terminal for the building of the MRT-LRT transit station.
Several traders operating at the bus terminal and surrounding area have said that closing of the terminal would affect their livelihood.
Syed Hamid, however, believed that DBKL had given alternatives to the traders as licensing and issuing business permits all came under the local authority and not SPAD.
The bus terminal which began operating in the 1970s, will be demolished until next year before construction of the transit station begins.
“Once the transit station is ready, there will be business opportunities for traders,” said Syed Hamid.
