The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will focus on motorcyclists and pillion riders to check the rising number of fatal road accidents annually.
JPJ deputy director-general Ismail Ahmad said Ops Sikap 24 revealed that 61.6 per cent or 178 motorcyclists and pillion riders were killed in road accidents during Aidilfitri festival.
“It is more than the 58.2 percent fatal accidents involving motorcyclists and pilion riders recorded in the first ten years (2000-2010),” he said after closing the ‘One Community One JPJ’ programme yesterday.
JPJ also held joint operations with police and National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) to check fatal accidents among motorcyclists and pillion riders.”
Ismail said 324 participants aged 45 years from all races obtained temporary driving licence (P) for B2 Class (motorcycles) today.
