The Kedah government has made early preparations to face the possibility of floods expected to hit the state in November.

Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak said the state government had identified the areas which might be affected to facilitate channelling of aid, including evacuation of flood victims.

“We have a small allocation of funds for the flood and we also asked the cooperation from the federal government to assist the state if there is a big flood like last year,” he told reporters after launching the state-level National Language Month 2011, yesterday.

He said the state government had also provided 10 boats for rescue and evacuation of flood victims in flood-prone areas such as Kota Setar, Padang Terap, Kubang Pasu and Pendang.
