The registration of households with a combined monthly income of RM3,000 for the RM500 aid through the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) is scheduled to start in December.
IRB chairperson Dr Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Abdullah said the Finance Ministry and several government agencies were now finalising the best mechanism of registration and mode of disbursement of the money.
“The IRB has to ensure that we have adequate manpower and set up the system and equipment by mid-November to enable the registration to begin in December,” he told reporters after the opening of the RM25.5 million Wisma Hasil Kangar in Kangar today by Perlis Menteri Besar Dr Md Isa Sabu.
Wan Abdul Aziz said 3.4 million households were expected to receive the assistance, for which RM1.8 billion would be allocated, starting January.
Meanwhile, Md Isa hoped the six-storey premises, which symbolised the IRB’s growth after having rented the Employees Provident Fund’s building for 21 years, would be conducive to public convenience.
Md Isa also launched the new IRB official song, ‘Hasil Berjasa’, replacing the old number, ‘Nada Hasil’.
