First time filmmaker jolts memory of Teoh Beng Hock

Rights of the Dead, a film directed by Tricia Yeoh, 30, is one of the three award winning films in the Freedom Film Fest 2012 competition.

The film was screened in the recent Freedom Film Fest 2012 in Johor Bahru.

The film is about the late political aide Teoh Beng Hock.

Tricia Yeoh, a first time film-maker, looked into and worked on the findings of the inquest and royal inquiry for the cause of Teoh’s death.

It casted doubts on the Malaysian law-enforcement system and of government and politics which are responsible for ensuring justice for its citizens.

Yeoh had served at the state government for more than two years and a former research officer to Selangor Mentri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

Now she helps run a family business, Dynamic Search and is the director of Business Development and Research.
