The crime index in Pahang saw a drop of 95 cases from 4,952 cases to 4,857 cases during the first nine months of this year compared to the same period last year.
Pahang police chief Sharifuddin Ab Ghani said violent crimes dropped by 10.78 percent or from 993 cases to 886 cases for the corresponding periods.
“The cases include unarmed gang robberies, armed gang robberies, extortion and criminal threats,” he said in his speech at a ceremony to affix corporal stripes to 45 junior-ranked policemen at the Pahang police headquarters yesterday.
He said property crime cases increased by 0.56 percent or 3,971 cases compared to 3,949 cases for the corresponding periods.
“Petty thefts, vehicle thefts and burglary cases also increased,” he said.
