Built more than a century ago, the temple has undergone extensive renovation in 2002
The architecture is a mix of Hokkien, Cantonese and Foochew with the 3rd level housing the Jade Emperor and Higher Gods
Behind the temple runs the Penang Hill Railway track
The main celebration days are the 9th day of the Chinese New Year and the Mooncake Festival
The temple is surrounded by many sacred Bo trees like the one which Buddha sat under when he reached enlightenment
A panaromic view of Ayer Itam and Georgetown greet everyone one climbing up the stairways
