Malaysia-Singapore relations strengthened further through various forms of cooperation including in culture and arts.
Information Communication and Culture Minister Rais Yatim said both countries are working at expanding this cooperation including through programmes such as the Muzika Ekstravaganza and The Singapore-Malaysia
CausewayEXchange.
“Relations between Malaysia and Singapore at the moment are very encouraging and we are taking this opportunity to cooperate in various fields.
“So, what we should do now is to just continue with it. In the near future, we may send one or two groups. They can be in the form of tour groups putting up stage performances in Singapore.
“These are some of the possibilities which I will be discussing with my counterpart when he comes here next month,” he said when receiving a courtesy call from Singapore Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew at his office, yesterday.
Lui said there were a lot of opportunities for both countries to cooperate in various fields such as literal art including poetry and story-writing.
“I think the larger objective is to find ways to bring the different communities closer together and to encourage more interaction between our people,” he said.
On his visit to Malaysia, Lui said the high-speed rail link between Malaysia and Singapore are set to be the main issue to be discussed when he meets his counterpart Kong Cho Ha, besides other transport issues between the two countries.
Lui, who is also Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, is also scheduled to meet Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nor Mohamed Yakcop and Land Public Transport Commission chairman Syed Hamid Albar to discuss transport issues and other topics of interest.
