Pekan Ampang celebrates the Nine Emperor Gods festival

Devotees by the tens of thousands flocked this small sleepy village to celebrate the nine-day vegetarian festival.

The annual parade of the Nine Emperor Gods was recently celebrated in Pekan Ampang.

Led by dragons, lions, lighted floats and mediums the parade weaved through the narrow streets of Ampang.

The parade is normally held on the second day of the festival to welcome the deity Yuan Shui, whose role is to ‘administer’ the festival.

Devotees by the tens of thousands flocked to this small sleepy village to celebrate the nine-day vegetarian festival.

Meanwhile back at the temple, more devotees assembled, awaiting the return of theĀ Gods, to pray for longevity, health and good fortune.
