Despite numerous complaints by residents, no action has been taken by the authorities to alleviate the flood problem at
Kampung Pokok Sena near Baling, Kedah.
The residents claimed that during a downpour, the village would be hit by flash floods.
Today, more than 20 houses were under a metre-deep of water following a two-hour downpour since 4.30pm, which resulted in water from Sungai Pendiat to overflow its banks.
Those affected by the floods claimed that the water rose very fast and they did not have time to salvage their belongings, like furniture and electrical appliances.
Eshah Abdullah Omar, 70, said it had been three years and nothing was done by the authorities to alleviate the problem.
Another resident, Radzi Husain, 52, said everytime flash floods occurred, the Federal Village Development and Security Committee would lodge a complaint, but no action was taken.
