A plywood factory manager pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to bribing a Tenaga Nasional Berhad
(TNB) manager.
Tey Man Er, 29, was accused of giving a RM4,000 bribe to TNB Investigations and Intelligence Unit senior manager Rumaizi Mohd Amir as an inducement not to take action against him for stealing electricity.
He allegedly committed the offence at an Old Town White Coffee Restaurant, UOA Shopping Centre, Bangsar at 2.15 pm on June 1.
Tey, who was charged under Section 17 (b) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009, faces 20 years’ jail and a RM10,000 fine or five times the amount of the bribe, if convicted.
Judge Rozilah Salleh granted Tey a RM7,000 bail with one surety and fixed Oct 20 for mention.
