No 54th Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day celebration will be held in the vicinity of Dataran Merdeka tomorrow night,
according to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
A spokesnman for DBKL Corporate Communication Unit said events such as concerts, fireworks display and countdown could not be held because the area is closed in preparation for parade the next day.
“We have not received applications from parties wanting to hold ceberation in the city but believe some will celebrate at their own premises,” he said.
Meanwhile, Genting Malaysia Berhad will hold its independence day celebration at Merdeka Stage, Genting Outdoor Theme Park.
Media relations officer Lim Sui Hui said the celebration starting at 7.30pm will include peroformance from a band, percussion, songs by local singers and a fireworks display.
“This Merdeka celebration is open to the public,” she said.
Encorp Berhad will be celebrate Malaysia Day at Encorp Strand in Kota Damansara with events like street parade, Fusion Malaysia Dance Performance, countdown, fireworks display and a concert by artistes such as Reshmonu, Bunkface and Joe Flizzow.
