Minda Johor & Hospital Permai jointly organized “Minda-Community Day” with a Forum on Mental Health Awareness at Dewan Sri Tebrau, Johor Bahru. Many NGOs participated with booth displays with health information.
Dr Abdul Kadir, the Director of Hospital Permai said that, “Preventing suicide is everybody’s business.” He said this with regards to the World Suicide Prevention Day which was held recently.
He said that both governmental and non-governmental organizations should work hand in hand to deal with this prevailing community crisis.
In his speech, Dr. Abdul Kadir mentioned that one of the top two reasons why Malaysians commit suicide is because they are too ashamed to admit that there is a mental health problem and the other reason is because of relationship matters.
