A 50-feet long snake boat rowing across a 20-feet stage will be the highlight of the Onam festival to be celebrated by the local Malayalee community at the Dewan Civic, Petaling Jaya on Sunday.

The festival, organised by the Selangor Federal Territory Malayalee Association would also include fishermen’s folk dance, children songs, and comedy sketches, according to its organising chairman, G. Sureh.

He told Bernama that the Onam was the most popular and significant celebration of the Malayalee community all over the world.

The harvest festival symbolises the rich heritage of its people living in prosperity, love and harmony.

All Malaysians are welcomed to join the celebrations.
