Aware of the need to channel tithes to the poor, Celcom Axiata Ltd East Region (Celcom) has, for the first time ever,
adopted 10 orphans in the east coast.
Celcom Eastern Region vice-presidentSulaiman Ahmad said the selection for the adoption was made among orphans who were really poor and genuinely needed aid.
“Celcom does not want to be seen as only targeting profit because we are also aware of the need to carry out our social responsibility to channel tithe payments to help the needy.
“As such, we have picked 10 orphans in Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang to be given assistance,” he told reporters after a breaking the fast ceremony with Orphans at Rumah Puteri Harapan and Rumah Putera Harapan yesterday.
He said the selected orphans would received RM1,000 each, to help lighten their burden, especially in education.
